I would like to personally thank all of you for registering for Mississippi's Run For the Fallen. We currently have well over 400 people registered from all over Mississippi including many families that have lost fallen heroes as well as many veterans. In a world where we flock by the thousands to see Batman and Avengers movies, it is so great to see so many coming to pay tribute to the lives of real life heroes. Here is a few things you need to know about tomorrow:
1. We will be there rain or shine.
2. T-shirts and bracelets will be on sale with proceeds going to groups recommended by the families of fallen soldiers.
3. Bring a chair if you would like to sit during the short ceremony.
4. The 5k is set up to be on a cross country course that is a little different than running on a road. It is in the shade! The course is great! We will also have a road course loop set up for those that prefer to walk on the pavement. If it rains too much, we will all be on the pavement.
5. The Run is free so we depend on donations. We have water, snacks, and goodies, but it would not hurt to bring some of your own.
6. We ask that you check in at 8:00 a.m. We will have a short ceremony before the Run.
7. After the Run we will have a closing ceremony. Since we will be using the parking area to park and for the road course, we ask that you arrive on time and stay until the conclusion of the event. This will help us with safety.
8. The Run is at Madison Middle School at 1365 Mannsdale Road Madison MS. If you take the Madison exit off of I-55 and travel West. You will see a fire station at the entrance of the school.
9. We will have a clock, but Run has no awards. This is a tribute to our Fallen Soldiers. The families and their memories are the ones that get the award for your efforts.
10. The Kids' Fun Run will start after the Run. They will get a little something!
I would like to thank all the great people in Madison, Kim McCoy, and all the other people that made this possible. Let us all have a great day of celebrating the lives of those that made ours possible.
